Pulse AI vs Loman AI

Two AI phone agents for restaurants, compared from Loman's own website: POS coverage, payment on the call, reservations, pricing, and where each one is the better choice.

Cooks working the line in a busy restaurant kitchen

Loman is one of the best-known AI phone agents for restaurants, and if you are shopping for one, it's probably on your list. It's also a very different product from Pulse in a few specific ways that decide which one fits a given restaurant. Everything about Loman below comes from Loman's own website, checked on September 29, 2026.

Where Loman is the better choice

We would rather say this plainly than have you find out after a demo.

  • You run Toast, SpotOn, Clover, Aloha or Olo. Loman lists all of them. Pulse posts orders to Square and GoTab today, so if your restaurant runs on one of the others, Loman can connect where we can't yet.
  • You want customers to pay by card during the call. Loman's Premium plan takes payment over the phone. Pulse deliberately doesn't.
  • Your phone is mostly reservations on OpenTable or Resy. Loman books into both. We don't connect to either today.

Where Pulse fits better

You take phone orders paid at the counter

Plenty of regulars order by phone and pay when they pick up, often in cash. Pulse is built for exactly that. The order posts to your POS unpaid, the way a phone order normally does, and nobody reads a card number to software. We made that a fixed rule after watching a caller hang up when an agent improvised about payment.

You care how the total is calculated

Every AI phone agent says it's accurate. Pulse keeps the language model away from prices: the model decides what the caller wants, and plain code reads prices and modifiers from your POS and adds them up. The total the caller hears is then checked against the total the POS calculates. We wrote up exactly how that works, and it's worth asking any vendor the same question.

You run more than a restaurant

Loman is built around restaurants. Pulse also runs resident lines for senior living, front desks for hotels, bookings for courts and classes, and maintenance lines for rentals. If you operate across categories, or you're an agency serving several, one platform matters.

You want to sell it under your own name

White-label is the core of Pulse, not an add-on. Agencies and software companies resell it with their name on the greeting, the caller ID and the invoice. See how white-label works.

What to ask either of us on a demo

  • Show me a real order posting into my POS, with modifiers, and the ticket it prints.
  • Where does the total come from, and what checks it?
  • What happens when I 86 an item halfway through service?
  • What does the agent say when it doesn't know the answer?
  • What exactly will I pay each month, in writing?

Questions people ask

Is Pulse a Loman alternative?

Yes. Both answer restaurant phones with AI. Loman connects to more POS systems and can take card payments on the call. Pulse posts to Square and GoTab, keeps payment at pickup, and also serves other industries and white-label partners.

How much does Loman cost?

Loman does not publish prices. Its pricing page lists Starter and Premium plans and asks you to request pricing.

Does Pulse work with Toast?

Not today. Pulse posts orders to Square and GoTab. If your restaurant runs on Toast, a product that lists Toast, such as Loman, can connect where Pulse cannot yet.

Can Pulse take card payments over the phone?

No, by design. Orders post to your POS unpaid and the customer pays at pickup, card or cash.

Hear it

One call, done right.

Read the live menu. Take the order. Read it back to the cent. Post it to the POS. That is the whole job, and this is what it sounds like.
